Once a proposed member has been accepted to join IWF Canada as a new member, what are the next steps?

Once a new nomination is accepted by the Membership Committee of your local chapter, the new member will then receive a formal invitation via email to join IWF from the local chapter Membership Committee, along with a New Member Acceptance Form. The latter form must be filled out as soon as possible and returned to the local chapter of IWF Canada, for your membership to become effective. As the proposer of this new member, you can contact her to inform her that her nomination has been accepted. You can also help her integrate into the local chapter as much as possible by attending chapter events with her.


What is the IWF Leave of Absence Protocol

A Member can submit a written request for a one year leave of absence to her Chapter’s Membership Committee. If accepted by the Membership Committee, the Member will be billed $100 to maintain the privilege to be reinstated the following year. However, during this “Hiatus” year the Member will not receive communications from the local chapter or participate in local or international IWF events during this period of time. The one-year leave of absence is a one-time option available to members who are experiencing a period of personal or professional transition. Should the member require a longer absence from IWF, she will need to re-join the organization through the usual nomination procedure. In such a situation, her re-acceptance is not guaranteed.


What is the process to transfer between chapters within Canada

IWFC Chapter members in good standing who are transferred to another Canadian city and would like to continue their IWFC membership in another IWFC Chapter where they will be residing, will be automatically accepted or "grandmothered" into that IWFC Chapter. Should a member move from one chapter to another within Canada, she should contact her local membership chair to facilitate the transfer. The membership should be fully paid at the time of transfer.


What is the process to transfer between Forums

Reciprocity among IWF members is automatic (with the exception of Southern California).  Should a member move from one IWF international forum to another during a fiscal year, arrangements can be made between the forums to transfer her dues on a prorated basis. The member should contact the relevant forum membership chairs for more information.
