A community of distinction and diversity

Around the world, IWF's affiliated member forums share a common commitment to bringing women leaders together. Two key factors underlie all membership criteria: diversity and level of accomplishment.

Diversity of culture, ethnicity and expertise is what sets IWF apart from other elite professional organizations. Nowhere else can you find such an eclectic group of women at the very top of their fields. We use a diversity checklist to help IWF chapters and member forums ensure balance in their recruitment and selection processes. We always ask ourselves if a proposed new member will bring something to new or special to the group.

High membership standards give IWF its strength and distinctive character. No woman is ever asked to join on the basis of her family's or husband's power. We seek pre-eminent women. For example, within an organization, we strive to recruit the top woman before approaching women at less senior levels. In the arts and professions, we look for a national or international reputation.
