Ann Medina and Alison Youngman are honoured in Pittsburgh
Ann Medina and Alison Youngman received a standing ovation at the World Leadership Conference in Pittsburgh when they were honoured with the IWF Sustainable Futures Leadership Award. This award honours their vision in opening IWFs programs up to a new generation of young women leaders. As co-chairs for the 2003 IWF World Leadership Conference in Toronto, Ann and Alison attracted an impressive group of young women to explore the theme of generations. Their presence, a first for IWF, has since since become a vibrant staple of IWF programming worldwide. Toronto delegate Donna Scully says that the award "made me and all the Canadians proud to be part of such a forward-looking group of women."
The award was presented by Judge Marjorie O. Rendell, First Lady of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, at the closing luncheon Friday, October 16. This luncheon also featured two of the voices of the future, Pal Saptarshi and Maria Angelica Rodriguez, two of the top winners who competed in the global essay competition sponsored by the World Bank, Cities Alliance and the Government of Norway on "What can you do to shape the city of your dreams?"
