In a special ceremony at her hospital bed, where she is undergoing cancer treatment, the inspirational Dr. Sheela Basrur received the province's highest honour, the Order of Ontario, on April 10. Hundreds of friends and admirers later gave Sheela a standing ovation when she formally accepted the award at the Annual General Meeting of the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario. Premier Dalton McGuinty saluted Sheela at the podium, and IWF members were there to cheer her on.

Sheela spoke with her customary passion, clarity and wit about her public journey as a leader in health care, withher eyes on the future of all Canadians, and her private one as a cancer patient living in the moment. Warmest congratulations, Sheela!
